Mechanical ventilation

Spontaneous ventilation can be assisted or replaced by delivering mechanical ventilation through positive airway pressure or negative airway pressure to the chest wall. The main objectives of mechanical ventilation are;

To help improve gas exchange and optimise lung function

To reduce the work of breathing

To correct hypoxaemia and respiratory axcidosis

To help stabilise the chest wall in the presence of chest trauma or surgery

To help reduce left ventricular (LV) afterload that may lead to an improved cardiac function

ResMed offers a broad range of mechanical ventilation options for invasive and noninvasive (NIV)applications for high end ICU transport ventilation, NIV ventilation and home ventilation (invasive and NIV).

Our total suite of mechanical ventilation solutions includes therapy devices that range from patients who require acute to chronic long term ventilation, complemented by our suite of non-vented (NV) and vented masks to provide you with the complete solution.
